Mary Osborne, author of Nonna's Book of Mysteries and Alchemy’s Daughter, is a writer, artist, and registered nurse living in Chicago. She is a graduate of Knox College and Rush University.

Nonna's Book of Mysteries was conceived during a springtime trip to Tuscany. Set during the days of Cosimo de Medici the Elder’s lordship, Nonna's Book of Mysteries sprang from the cobbled streets of Florence and into the author’s ear.

A journey to the walled, Italian village of Certaldo and the home of Giovanni Boccaccio—medieval author of The Decameron—provided inspiration for the prequel, Alchemy’s Daughter. Set one hundred years before Nonna's Book of Mysteries, Alchemy’s Daughter takes place during the time of the plague, like Boccaccio’s famed work.
